...into a curse.
I find about thirty shows I REALLY want...and then discover they are not here for download, only streaming!
So they put all the effort into making the shows clean and decent sounding...but then you get to listen to them with about a toothpick's worth of bandwidth.
I don't even do audiobooks at that low a rate!
Come on guys, why do you have all this stuff streaming only?

Don't be in such a hurry to complain! Install a decent player in your computer (eg Winamp), connect to some good headphones or hifi system, click on the VBR m3u link, and they'll sound great.

Yes, the flacs would sound a bit better, but vbr mp3 files sound very, very good; many of us can't honestly tell the difference.

Have to agree. The VBRs are all I listen to and they do me just fine.

In a word: BitTorrent

I imagine you might find most of what you're looking for here.

don't let simple limitations slow you down. there's more than one way to find what you're looking for. i'm not sure what shows you're looking for, but there's a good chance i have a copy of it.

email me at gerryjarcia42@gmail.com and we can work out some old school tape trading if you're interested.

There are ways to still get the SBD's from here "just gotta poke around." There may be kind souls out there willing to help and some have if you read some of the show reviews, many are very helpful in finding what you seek!

the way to get them is to learn bittorrent.
that way you get them in the best quality sound, and you aren't sneaking thru some back door like a common theif!

There are legit ways to get the SBDs. Use them. Lots of folks here to help if you need it.

this post reminds me of being at a sold out show in Oakland ( 90 maybe 91 ). Find a ticket at face value literally at the last minute and RIGHT when we're about to exchange money for ticket this guy comes down the ramp from bart ( you know by the colliseum ) and yells " a hundred dollars for a ticket" talk about a carrots being ripped away! I was heartbroken! Shut out in my own back yard. grrrr

Be careful Mr. Gumby. The miracle of acquiring those 30 shows you REALLY need can turn into a curse of needing another 500 shows.
And then like a thief it creeps up on you. You stop doing things like eating or going outside. You forget your kid's names. You tell your spouse you'll be coming to bed soon. Then you find yourself at your computer wearing only underwear with cheetos smeared on your chest after a 3 day downloading binge muttering things like, "only 1 more show and then I'm off the stuff for good." And then you need '69, the entire year. Then '72. Then the Jerry band stuff starts. Then that Charlie Miller guy keeps releasing upgrades of fantastic shows that you MUST have.
Jerry said it best, " too much of everything is just enough." Run away MrGumby. Leave your Uncle's dead ass there by the side of the road and run away.

Heh GP (Georgia Peach) - I know the person you're describing - that's me, that's who it is.

I swore I'd never buy an external hard-drive - all I needed was 'Live/Dead', 'American Beauty' and my lovely green vinyl bootleg (4th October 1970).

Now I've got piles of CDs (some for listening and some for storage - flacs & that) all over the place. So many CDs that I've gone the external hard-disk route for storage and, of course, you need to duplicate (just in case).

Like one of the high-ups in the GD IA 'cabinet' mentioned before - am so busy downloading & streaming, haven't got time to listen to the actual music!!!!!

Seem to remember that the child bride and I have got 3 kids between us but am buggered (apologies) if I can remember their names - am thinking of writing their names on their foreheads, with a CD writer permanent marker of course ..........

It's like a drug, but worse ........

Keep on Truckin'
